I have been a well known Lexus RC hater. I thought it was ugly, tacky, too heavy, etc...
While I’m still right about the heavy part, I have decided I was completely wrong about the styling. I was next to one for about 15 minutes this morning (champagne-ish color, f sport) in a somewhat stationary fashion.
The car is extremely handsome, elegant, yet sporty. It is well proportioned and pictures don’t do it justice. The slits and other “speed” bits are not as tacky as they appear in pictures and are actually somehow complementary. I’m declaring it one of the best looking 2 door 4 seaters on the market right now. There I said it.
Also, I am a staunch Lexus hater so this is a major thing for me to be saying.

They really are pretty things. I still hate the grill for its contrived nature as well as its general aesthetics but the car itself is lovely.

I still don't love it and I've seen quite a few. My wife, on the other hand, thinks it's the most beautifuly thing out.

Your wife has good taste haha.
I’ve seen them before in passing and I didn’t really like them but I’ve never really studied one in this color. I’m still shocked by how much I liked it.

I like it. In general, I think Lexus’ cars are very well styled right now (unlike their Japanese luxury brethren). Their SUVs, on the other hand, are a disastrous mess.

So is the RC replacing something (IS? GS?) or is it a whole new contrived segment for them? EDIT: Never mind, Google says it's just the IS coupe. It was confusing because Lexus called it a sports "sedan" in some of the literature...

I really need Cadillac to drop a small block in the ATS Coupe. I miss my Camaro but I just cant drive something that childish anymore.
I think the RC hits the sweet spot between class and sport but its too heavy, too automatic, and too soft for what I’m looking for. I think the ATS nails the styling but the engine and transmission choices leave much to be desired.

Lexus design in general is WAYYYYYYYY better in person. Still have yet to see an RC though, but it was like this for me and the IS.

Not an IS coupe.
It uses the front from the GS, center from the last Gen IS C, and the new IS rear.
So while it uses some of the IS, it is two different platforms of IS, not the same generation. And since the front section is GS, it is more than only an IS coupe.

The previous Gen RX is terrible, apart from the F Sport, which is only slightly better.
The new one is a far better vehicle. It’s much nicer to drive. The interior is way more upscale and better laid out. And it is a handsome brute for what it is.
There is a reason the RX sells better than any other luxury crossover. If one is looking in that segment, it truly is the benchmark.

It still does nothing for me even after seeing it in my favorite color and in RC-F guise. It just looks so damn nose heavy.

I had the same thing. When they introduced I didn’t like it at all, but once I saw it in real life.... It’s perfect now.
